Abigail Messinger of Schnecksville was awarded a $500 Love of Learning Award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Messinger, a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will use funds from the award to complete classes toward a Master of Science degree in speech and language pathology.

Messinger was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi in 2014 at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

The selection process for a Love of Learning Award is based on the applicant’s academic achievement, campus and community service, intended use of award funds as it relates to academic and career goals, and a personal statement.

Each recipient will receive $500 to be applied toward post-baccalaureate professional development.
