Liberty’s girls’ cross country team defeated all three of last week’s opponents, East Stroudsburg North, East Stroudsburg South, and Stroudsburg, and Becahi and Freedom defeated the East-burg schools last week at the course at Illick’s Mill.
Liberty’s Belle Weikert took first place with a time of 19:01.
“I stuck behind two of the Stroudsburg girls, and then right there, I sprinted up the hill,” she said. “I just kind of ran my own race.”
Grace Haas placed fifth in 20:19, Greta Stuckey was ninth in 20:47, Hannah Graybeal came in 10th in 20:57, Rachel Byrne placed 11th in 21:05, and Evelyn Sharkin was 13th in 21:19, all for the Hurricanes.
Becahi’s Lauren Bunke took second place with a time of 19:17.
“Since it’s one of our first meets, I tried to go out near toward the front but stay back a little, and then once I got to the mile marker, I went for it,” Bunke said.
Mary Scheidel came in eighth in 20:40 and Solei Rodriguez placed 25th in 22:34, both for the Hawks.
Freedom’s Lauren Charroneau placed sixth in 20:26, Shannon Connelly was 12th in 21:06, and Mary Sweeney came in 17th in 21:29.
