John Samus

John Samus, 93, of Fogelsville, died Sept. 17, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He was the widower of Helen M. (Sabol) Samus.

Born in Mahanoy City, he was the son of the late Wassel and Sophie (Mazur) Samus.

He was a mail carrier in New Jersey for 22 years.

John was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Orefield.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the first wave of the invasion of Normandy.

His survivors include daughters Ann Marie Quinlan and husband, Michael, of Kutztown and Teresa Kleiza and husband, Vidas, of Stewartsville, N.J.; sister Mildred DiRomualdo of Macungie; grandchildren Nina, Derrick, Mindy, and Brian; and great-grandchildren Colton and Evan.

He was predeceased by a son, John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1879 Applewood Road, Orefield.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown.
