Charles G. Wechsler, 74, of Treichlers, died Sept. 5, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital Health Network Hospice, Salisbury Township.
Born May 9, 1943, in Albany Township, Berks County, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Ida R. (Correll) Wechsler.
He and his wife Barbara A. (Lagler) Wechsler shared 53 years of marriage on March 14.
Last employed by Ingersoll-Rand Corp., Allentown, he was responsible for transportation and distribution of products for 30 years before retiring in 1993.
He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran church, Whitehall.
A volunteer firefighter for more than 53 years with the Laurys Station Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, he served as a former captain, former assistant chief and also held a trustee position at the fire company for more than 33 years.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as a specialist 4 grade during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Kimberly A. Wechsler of Treichlers; brothers Robert D., and Edward Wechsler and wife, LeAnn, all of Walnutport; sister Mary Jane Franya of Lehighton; Aunts Alice and Eva; sister-in-law Linda Youngblood and husband, Carl; aunt-in-law Sandra Heintzelman and husband, James; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Alan, and a sister, Teresa Fisher.
