Becahi’s Young and Glenn choose colleges

A pair of Bethlehem Catholic senior athletes recently announced their decisions to attend Division-I programs.

Basketball star Ryan Young is heading to Northwestern to play in the Big 10, while Zach Glenn has decided to wrestle at Army.

Young, a 6-foot-10 power forward, helped lead Becahi to last year’s District 11 4A championship and will be one of the top players in the East Penn Conference heading into this season, as the Hawks will be favored to win the league and district again. Young had more than 30 Division-I offers, but ultimately decided on being a Wildcat. He averaged over 14 points a game last year, as well as grabbing 14 rebounds a contest.

“I chose Northwestern simply because they not only fit all my criteria, but excelled in every category I was looking for,” said Young. “When I first started the recruiting process, I knew I wanted to play for a school that had a good balance of great academics and competitive basketball. Northwestern is the perfect school for it.”

Glenn is just another wrestler in a laundry list of Becahi grapplers to move on to the Division-I level in picking Army.

He went 32-8 last season and took home a seventh place finish at the PIAA 3A tournament at 120-pounds.

Glenn tweeted out the news of picking Army on his Twitter account.

“Extremely blessed and proud to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Army West Point,” Glenn wrote.

Glenn has a career record of 71-26.
