Golf gets another win
The Northampton golf team improved to 11-1 this season and continued a stellar year with a win over Pocono Mountain East at Woodstone Country Club.
Andrew Hozza paved the way for the Kids with a 76, but it was West’s Brett Wagner who led all golfers with an impressive 71, one-under par effort.
It wasn’t enough in the end as the Kids won 407-461.
The Kids again got the consistent scoring as Nate Wheeler (80), Andrew Kovalchik (82), Jack Test (84) and Anthony Sawarysnki (85) all came in with scores in the 80s.

Cross Country
The Northampton cross country teams went against Central, Emmaus and Whitehall at Nazareth Intermediate School.
Both the boys and girls teams went 1-2 on the day. Both defeated Whitehall (boys won 20-38, girls won 19-30), while falling to Emmaus and Central.
“It was another good day for the team as they had some solid times early in the season,” said head coach Dan Benner.
The girls were led by freshman Amber Poniktera (13th - 20:28), followed by Magen Perelli (15th - 20:37), Georgia Wiswesser (17th - 20:55), Beth Albright (22nd - 21:26), Hannah Flaven (33rd - 22:26), Lauren Pague (35th - 22:36), Olivia Rigo (36th - 22:37) and Jenele Vadelund (37th - 22:51).
On the boys side, Vince Gallagher (18th - 17:30) led the way, followed by Isaiah Tyler (26th - 18:06), Evan Gillette (33rd - 18:33), Kolton Bates (52nd - 19:16), Owen Nahf (57th - 19:41), Kolton Bates (34th - 19:12), Matt Heisler (63rd - 19:59), and Wyatt Poniktera (83rd - 20:44).
“We have opened the season with two fast meets, and that will continue next week as we race at home on Tuesday, Sept. 19, against Allen, Dieruff, and Parkland,” Benner added. “We will honor our six seniors that day as we celebrate Senior Day.”
Field Hockey
The Northampton field hockey team cruised by East Stroudsburg North on Friday afternoon, winning 13-0.
The Kids jumped out to a 7-0 first half lead and never looked back. Morgan Mullen scored seven goals in the victory.
Abby Wheeler scored two goal and had two assists while Paige Sommers also scored two goals in the victory. All-in-all, 11 Kids registered points in the game.
Abby Piotrowski registered a goal and an assist and Olivia Lorah added one goal.
Sarah Shook had two assists as did Lauren Schaller. Morgan McEntire, Brynn Ehrlacher, Tori Unangst and Evelyn Bodnar each added an assist.
Volleyball
The Northampton volleyball team dropped a match to Freedom, 25-18, 19-25, 25-21, 30-28.
Senior Julia Kester had a team high 14 kills for the Pates.
Northampton did defeat Catasauqua, 25-8, 25-8, 25-8, as well as Easton, 25-16, 25-20, 25-16.
Against Catty, Sydney Heffner, Maddie Deloglos, and Brooke Rockovits had 10, nine and eight service aces, respectively to help lead the way.
Against the Rovers, Karissa Hartzell had 15 digs and two aces. Sydney Heffner had 13 assists and six kills while Jade Rindock had three solo blocks. Olivia Lucas had four aces.
