After an impressive 31-0 victory in week one against East Stroudsburg North, the Northampton football team learned that its competition in the EPC South is on a different level.
The K-Kids fell to Bethlehem Catholic 48-0 at Al Erdosy Stadium on Sept. 1.
Northampton was held to 77 total yards of offense. Running back Hunter Wacik led the offense with 46 yards on 21 carries.
The Northampton defense started strong against the Golden Hawks, but ultimately gave up too many big plays to Becahi running back Tavion Banks.
He rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries. Banks’ three scores came from 44, 36, and 45-yard runs.
The K-Kids lost four fumbles, with two of them being returned for touchdown.
Quarterback Josh Smith was 3-of-9 for 29 yards passing, but earned the admiration of many in the stadium by the end of the night. Smith was hit repeatedly during the course of the game by Bethlehem Catholic’s strong defensive line, but remained in the pocket and continued throwing until the final whistle.
The K-Kids return to Al Erdosy Stadium to host Pleasant Valley on Sept. 8.
