KUTZTOWN

Alexis Dongvort of Schnecksville was named to the National All-Academic Cross Country Team at Kutztown University.

Dongvort is one of six members of the Kutztown University men’s and women’s cross-country team to receive academic awards from the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association for the 2016 season.

As teams, both squads needed to hold a team-wide average GPA of 3.0 or higher in order to be recipients of the award. The women’s team held a GPA of 3.38.

Individually, each team had three student-athletes receive the All-Academic honor, which requires a GPA of at least 3.25 and to finish in the top-30 percent of eligible runners at his or her respective regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.

Dongvort was one of three Golden Bears from the women’s team to receive the honor.

This is the second year in a row Dongvort has earned the award.
