Pates beat Parkland
Freedom’s girls’ tennis team turned an “if” into a “done” when they defeated Parkland for the second straight year on Aug. 22 at Freedom by a score of 6-1.
Natalie Sinai won at one singles against Murong Yao 6-4, 6-4, and Rebecca Placko won at two singles against Joanna Wu 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
In a three set match at two doubles, Anjali Chhugani and Olivia Chhugani came out on top 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4.
Twinkle Gupta and Meghan Smith won at three doubles 6-4, 6-1, and Megan Cavanaugh and Hannah Nicholls won at four doubles 6-0, 6-1.
At one doubles, Alyssa Kapcsos and Natasha Katchur were also victorious for the Patriots, winning 8-3.
Jessika Klo lost at three singles 2-6, 3-6.
Liberty won a hard fought match against Pocono Mountain East by a score of 6-1 on Aug. 24 at Liberty.
Paige Simons defeated Sarah Naughton 6-4, 6-3 at one singles, and Julia Zheng defeated Samantha Passmore 6-2, 6-2 at two singles.
In doubles play, Gabriella Harvella and Kendra Siegfried won at number two, 7-6, 6-0, Braden Drake and Shivani Patel won at number three, 7-5, 6-0, and Lexie Montero and Gabriella Palermo won at number four 6-0, 6-0.
Jessica Long and Shachi Patel also won at one doubles for the Hurricanes 8-3
Angelique Ronca lost at three singles to Jesica Passmore 4-6, 3-6.
Earlier in the week, Liberty lost to Stroudsburg 6-1 but came back the next day to defeat East Stroudsburg North 7-0.
Freedom scored another victory when the Pates beat Allentown Central Catholic 5-2, and Bethlehem Catholic won its match against Pocono Mountain East 7-0.
