Northwest swim team takes third place at finals

Northwest swimmers Corbin Eisenhardt, Malcolm Collins, Patrick Gilhool, and Tim Wetmore guaranteed Northwest’s team an overall third place finish at championships when they took first place in the 12 & under 200 medley relay on July 29 at Stonecrest.

Eisenhardt, Collins, Gilhool, and Wetmore won the relay with a time of 2:33.03.

This year, the championships meet was a two-day event on July 28 and 29. At the end of day one, Northwest was in sixth place. At the end of day two, Northwest had placed third by two points, just ahead of Kaybrook Green Hills.

Earlier that month, Northwest coach Reik Foust said, “We may not win championships, but we’ll swim like champions.”

Individual event winners for Northwest were Abby Mack in the 15-18 100 IM with a time of 1:12.51, Patrick Gilhool in the 11-12 50 backstroke with a time of 35.16, Roman Herman in the 9-10 25 breaststroke with a time of 21.06, and Malcolm Collins in the 11-12 50 breaststroke with a time of 42.15.

Second place finishers in individual events for Northwest were Ben Stuckey in the 15-18 100 IM with a time of 1:06.54, Herman in the 9-10 25 butterfly with a time of 17.43, and Gilhool in the 11-12 50 fly with a time of 32.68.

Coming in third place in individual events for Northwest were Windsor Reiss in 12 & under diving, scoring 106.65 points, Gilhool in the 11-12 100 IM with a time of 1:18.73, Herman in the 9-10 50 freestyle with a time of 34.58, and Mack in the 15-18 100 free with a time of 1:04.45.

Also in third place were Addison Collins in the 13-14 50 backstroke with a time of 34.16, Andrew Bays in the 8 & under 25 back with a time of 23.42, and Lora Flynn in the 9-10 25 back with a time of 19.80.

Bays, Eisenhardt, Stuckey, Addison Collins, and Herman combined to take third place in the crescendo relay with a time of 2:05.15.

Fourth place finishers for Northwest in individual events were Addison Collins in the 13-14 100 IM with a time of 1:15.05, Bays in the 8 & under 25 free with a time of 18.48, Eisenhardt in the 11-12 50 free with a time of 33.29, and Stuckey in the 15-18 100 free with a time of 57.85.

Andre Negron had two fourth place finishes, one in the 9-10 25 back with a time of 20.85, and one in the 9-10 25 breaststroke with a time of 22.87.

Trident swim team was the overall team champion with 924.5 points, and Orchard View was second with 681 points. Third place Northwest had 616.5 points, and fourth place Kaybrook Green Hills had 614.5 points.
