Applications being accepted for Slatington Youth Works program

Slatington Youth Works Program provides high school students between the ages of 16-18 who have completed their junior year with employability skills and summer work experience.

The focus is students in the Northern Lehigh School District who meet income eligibility requirements.

The program will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 21st and will run through August 25th.

Student applications are still being accepted.

The program is developed around helping students in the Northern Lehigh School District succeed as they transition from full time students to full time employees.

The program will provide students with the knowledge they need to enter the workforce as well as provide them with work experiences. Students will receive an hourly wage for their time at the various work sites during the program.

Workplace opportunities and experiences will vary per student. The opportunities are pre-arranged with local employers and reflect a variety of opportunities in the local community including retail, non-profit, healthcare, government, community relations and more.

Interested students/parents can obtain an application at the Slatington Public Library or by requesting one by contacting Alice Wanamaker via email at alicew@lehighvalleychamber.org or call 484-274-2080. All applications must be received no later than August 11, 2017.
