Coplay plans Community Days festival

The 38th annual Party in the Park Coplay Community Days will be held rain or shine Aug. 25-27. The three-day festival is the community’s largest fundraiser of the year, supporting local and surrounding neighbor organizations.

The event offers plenty of free parking and admittance to the festival grounds at the borough’s Parkway.

There is no cover charge to concerts.

New stands at this year’s festival will be Northampton-based Lehigh Valley Community Benefits, Whitehall-based Communities That Care and a free Aqua Zumba party Aug. 27 hosted by Northampton native Tara Miller.

The popular bring-your-dog-for-a-swim event will be held Aug. 27 during the last hour of the pool season. Free swimming is provided Saturday and Sunday.

Deejay Freddie Frederick Jr. will bring a family splash and dance party to the festival Aug. 27.

The Aardvarks have kicked off Party in the Park for the past six years and will again this year - 6-10 p.m. Aug. 25.

Popular places to relax include Samuel Owens beer garden tents and Coplay American Club’s tented grove and food courts.

Service Electric television personality Uncle Jeffrey will be broadcasting live Aug. 27.

Because of the generous band and festival sponsors and the more than 12,000 people who attend, the Party in the Park Community Days event has been able to fund more than $90,000 for much-needed community projects over the past six years. More than 90 people comprise the team, which is 100-percent volunteers, that make this festival possible.

As with every outdoor event, the festival is at the mercy of the weather. Ninety percent of the festival is under cover.
