FEST NOTES

It seems the number of people listening to performers at the Sands Steel Stage who are seated along First Street just outside the venue is growing each year. It kind of reminds me of the earlier days when headline concerts were held at the Community Arts Pavilion and admission on the large lawn was free. It also doesn’t hurt when a concert like Carlos Santana’s is a sell-out.

Fest Facts placards dotted the Musikfest campus this year and I really like them. For those less familiar with the festival, they are very educational. For those like me who have been going to Musikfest since it started, they serve as reminders of how far the event has come since its inception.

Friends told me that attendance on the first weekend caused them a twenty-five minute wait in line to purchase food and beverage tickets, the first time they had ever experienced this.

It was nice to have the new footbridge over the Monocacy Creek near the Festplatz tent completed in time for Musikfest. The new bridge is designed to give a much more airy feel as you walk across.
