Moore Township: Salem United Church of Christ plans peach festival Saturday

Salem United Church of Christ, 2218 Community Drive, is having a peach festival 3-9 p.m. Aug. 12. There will be food, games, a cake walk, 50/50 prize raffle and bingo.

Live music will be by Dan Flok and The Ravens.

In case of rain, food will be sold inside the church from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Covenant United Methodist Church, located at 2715 Mountain View Drive, is having a movie night Aug. 12. The film shown will be “Woodlawn.”

The township will present the third annual Community Days celebration Aug. 26. There will be food from local nonprofits, a 5K race, live music and a fireworks display.

New this year, attendees can purchase a helicopter ride to view the scenery of Moore Township from the air.

On Saturday, the event kicks off with the 5K race beginning 9:30 a.m. The fireworks display will be 10 p.m.

Moore Township Athletic Association (MTAA) is holding a fundraiser for fall football and cheerleading. On Aug. 27, there will be a basket raffle during the first game of the season. Organizers are asking for donations from residents, area groups and businesses. Donations could include baskets, gift cards or cash donations.

Also, MTAA still has openings for fall sports. Fall sports include soccer, football, cheerleading, baseball and softball.
