Doris J. Brunner
Doris J. Brunner, 66, of Breinigsville, died July 25, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She and her husband, Thomas W. Brunner, would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary next month.
Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Smith) Phillips.
She received her Master’s in Education degree from Kutztown University and her Bachelor’s degree from Cedar Crest College.
She taught math in the Southern Lehigh School District for 37 years, becoming the head of the middle school’s math department and the Math Counts Team.
She was a coach for the high school and middle school field hockey teams for 25 years and will be added to their Wall of Fame next year.
She was past president and vice president for the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and was past president and treasurer of Delta Kappa Gamma, Lehigh Valley Chapter.
She was a member of Ziegels United Church of Christ, Breinigsville, where she was a Sunday School teacher for more than 25 years, was previously on consistory, and was a past treasurer.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Wendy Nguyen of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Marci Nagle of Fleetwood; brothers Robert Phillips of New Tripoli and Donald Phillips and wife, Sharon, of Kempton; sisters-in-law Alida Phillips of Macungie and Marianne Dogmanits of Breinigsville; grandchildren Kayla, Mya, Hanna and Brynn; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, William.
Her memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Aug. 14 at Ziegels UCC, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, with the Rev. Jeffrey Kistler officiating.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. in the church.
