Council to review resumes for borough police chief

Six candidates have submitted resumes for the position of Northampton Borough police chief, two of whom are already members of the borough force.

Police Chief Ron Morey retired Aug. 1.

Borough Manager LeRoy Brobst said July 27 council has named police Sgt. Bryan Kadingo as interim police chief until council makes a permanent appointment for the post.

The deadline to submit a resume was July 19. Council members were given copies of the resumes for their review.

Interviews will follow, attended by all council members or just its police committee.

Council next meets Aug. 17, the earliest they can vote to fill the position. The salary for the new police chief has not been set.

The police department has no assistant police chief, captain or lieutenant; Kadingo is the sole sergeant.

The borough had scheduled testing for a second sergeant’s position just recently, but none of the borough police patrol officers took the test, much to the dismay of borough lawmakers.
