Jeanette J. Maehrer, 79, of Slatington, died June 21, 2017, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.

She and her husband James. A. Maehrer were married 58 years last Aug. 16.

Born March 4, 1938, in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Marjorie (Druckenmiller) Leibenguth.

A clerk and cashier at Kmart, Walnutport, for 17 years, she retired in 1995.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Slatington Moose, and Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Ladies Auxiliary, all in Slatington.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Donna S. Cope (James) of Slatington; sisters Adele Ziegler, Margie Kern (LaRoy), Linda Rehrig (Dennis), and June Leibenguth; grandchildren Jeffrey J. Maehrer Jr. (Amanda), Nichole Maehrer (John), Jenelle Maehrer (Michael), James Cope, Jr. (Megan), Christopher Cope; and great-grandchildren Marisa Maehrer, Alexa Maehrer, Daytona Christman and Michael Torres Jr.

She was predeceased by a son Jeffrey J. Maehrer Sr. and siblings, Joseph, LeRoy, Carl and Wayne Leibenguth and Ruth Bieler.
