Joseph L. Niezgoda

Joseph L. Niezgoda, 87, of Allentown, died June 14, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Anne I. (Nizio) Niezgoda were married 63 years last Aug. 8.

Born July 17, 1929, in Larksville, Luzerne County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Malodobra) Niezgoda.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, and his Master’s in Business Administration degree at The University of Scranton.

He was a materials manager for Tampella Power, Williamsport, for several years before retiring.

Previously, he was a materials manager for Foster Wheeler Energy Corp in Ankara, Turkey, Dansville, N.Y. and Mountaintop.

While living in Dansville, he owned an H&R Block franchise.

Since moving to the Allentown area, he volunteered for AARP as a tax preparer.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Linda Brown (Robin) of Mountaintop, Joseph Niezgoda (Kim) of Lansdale, Michael Niezgoda (Sophia) of Atlanta, Ga., Kathryn Banta (Walter) of Reading, Anne Angelella of Allentown; son-in-law, Alex Kishyk of Cranbury, N.J.; twin brother Stephen Niezgoda of Springfield, Va.; grandchildren Michael, Angela, Renee, Joseph, Leah, Peter, Gregory, Andrew, Walter, Matthew, Nicholas, Jacob and John; and great-grandchildren Emma, Luke, Grace, Laney, Layla and Anthony.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Kishyk; grandson Stephen Kishyk; and siblings Stanley Niezgoda and Victoria Shaffer.
