George M. Bubernack Sr.

George M. Bubernack Sr., 81, died June 3, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Married May 3, 1958, he and his late wife Carol J. (Choplick) were married 55 years before she died on Nov. 14, 2013.

They lived in Coopersburg for nearly 40 years.

The youngest of nine children, he was born April 2, 1936 in Atlas, Northumberland County, the son of the late Michael T. and Johanna (Lezynska) Bubernack.

He attended Mt. Carmel High School and joined the Army in 1954.

In the Army, he learned to fix radios and electronics, and played the trumpet in the band.

A self-taught businessman, he was the founder and president of Eastern Telephone and Telecommunications from its establishment in 1968 until his retirement in 2000.

He was most proud of his family and his business and loved sharing jokes, going to the casinos, playing the lottery, and giving stock market advice. “Call when you get there.” “Let’s go.”

His survivors include twin daughters Cindy Gould (Barry) of Langhorne, Sandy Josephson (Mike) of Slatington; son Michael Bubernack (Fusun) of Bethlehem; grandchildren Ben Gould (Patti), Becky Guth (Frank), Merjan and Sirma Bubernack, Sonya Josephson; great-grandchildren Simon, Harry and Milo Gould, Coraline Guth; sister Pearl Shimock; many nephews and nieces; and many cherished friends.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. June 8 in Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown.

Call 11:30 a.m. until service time.
