Bernice A. Sommers, 89, of Allentown, died May 31, 2017, at Whitehall Manor. She was the wife of the late Alfred S. Sommers.
Born in Longswamp, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Hummel) Kempf.
She was an Allentown Central Catholic High School graduate.
She was a sewing machine operator for the former Leonard Manufacturing, Allentown, for 15 years until she retired in 1989.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.
She is survived by six sons, Alfred J. and his wife Marilyn of Bath, Richard and his wife Dorian of Allentown, Daniel and his wife Sandra of Hinesville, Ga., Kenneth and his wife Miriam of Northampton, Gerald of Dunn, N.C., and Stephen and his wife Susan of East Allen Township; two daughters, Lisa Ann and her husband David Pandl of Columbus, N.J., and Lois and her husband Carl Ludwig of Allentown; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Albert, Richard and James; and six sisters Arlene, Pauline, Esther, Doris, Helen and Ruth.
