Local business offers clients ‘one-stop shop’ medical needs
Twelve years ago, physical therapist Rowena “Row” Solomon decided to pursue her dream of owning a business that would offer a variety of therapeutic and rehabilitation services, along with other medical and general daily assistance all under one roof. She hoped to create a business that would be a “one-stop shop,” allowing her patients access to numerous services tailored specifically to meet each individual’s needs.
This vision became reality when she opened Lehigh Valley Therapy Inc. in 2005 in Orefield. Now, over a decade later, Lehigh Valley Therapy Inc., now located on Main Street in Northampton, has a growing staff and clientele and continues to focus on meeting the needs of its customers and helping to provide for them a better quality of life.
“Years ago, everything was under one roof, and it was convenient and easy access for those who needed care, and that is what I envisioned with Lehigh Valley Therapy. I wanted to return to that way of life, where everything a patient would need was accessible all in one place,” said Solomon, owner of Lehigh Valley Therapy Inc.
Lehigh Valley Therapy offers a variety of services, with access to caregivers, therapists, home health aides, nurses and doctors throughout the Valley - 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Their medical services cater to many diagnoses - including orthopedic, neurological and cardiac - and their main goal is to make the patients’ transition from the hospital to their home as smooth, easy and efficient as possible.
In addition to medical and rehabilitation services, Lehigh Valley Therapy Inc. offers assistance with scheduling and transportation to appointments and can even bring the experience and the equipment directly to the patients if needed. Lehigh Valley Therapy also has home health aides who can provide companionship, basic daily living assistance, grocery shopping, meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, bathing and wound-care dressing.
“When someone is in need of therapy and rehabilitation, it’s very likely that they are struggling with physical limitations, and so we want to go beyond offering rehabilitation and therapy. We do whatever we can to help make things easier for them while they work through their therapy program,” Solomon said.
Lehigh Valley Therapy has grown and expanded since it first opened. For the past year, Lehigh Valley Therapy has operated a clinic located in the Hampton House seniors facility on Lincoln Avenue in Northampton in addition to its offices on Main Street. Residents of the Hampton House call and set up appointments with the clinic for visits and checkups, and Lehigh Valley Therapy has aides, therapists, nurses and doctors available to meet the medical and physical needs of their residents. Patients also can schedule appointments to have their apartment cleaned, make appointments, help out with doctor visits, medication management and other long- and short-term care needs.
“We believe in going the extra mile for our clients; that was my vision when I created Lehigh Valley Therapy. I wanted all of our patients to feel heard. I listened to their needs, I took note of which ones they felt weren’t being met and I met them,” Solomon said.
Lehigh Valley Therapy also brings education and awareness right to the people in the community through their informative seminars. Physicians, therapists and nurses with Lehigh Valley Therapy will visit places, such as senior centers, churches and assisted living facilities, in order to share valuable information to those who need it most. One popular seminar the group offers is Couch Potato Therapy, which instructs exercises and techniques to stay healthy and in motion right in the comfort of your own living room.
Additionally, they offer blood pressure screenings, sugar readings and other informative opportunities to get in touch with the public and advise them on tools to stay healthy and safe in the community.
“Our seminars are educational, but they are also so much fun. We offer games, prizes, dancing, good food - it’s always a lot of fun and a great opportunity for us to share some experience and advice in a really fun way,” said Angela Wanamaker, office manager of Lehigh Valley Therapy.
“The business has grown so much. We went from a small group back in 2005 to a group of nearly 40 experienced and dedicated staff members, and our focus has always been and will always be meeting the needs of our patients and offering them a better quality of life,” Solomon said.
