LHS boys top EHS

Liberty’s boys’ track and field team earned most of its points in jumping and throwing events to top Emmaus 90-60 last week.

Daniel Damon won the high jump with 5-07.0, and Trevor Joseph won the pole vault with 11-09.0.

The Hurricanes locked up the long jump with Darian Street in first place with 22-01.0, Jonathan Heess in second place with 21-03.0, and Daeshawn Teague in third with 20-08.0.

The Hurricanes also took top places in the triple jump with Heess in first place with 42-04.0, Jay McGill in second place with 40-06.0, and Teague in third with 40-00.0.

In throwing events, Matt Donchez won the javelin with 134-01, Jayden Figueroa won the discus with 120-04, and in the shot put Trevor Harris came in first with 43-03.0, Figueroa was second with 120-04, and Shane McLaughlin was third with 36-11.0.

In distance events, Darlyn Fermin won the 1600 meter run in 4:46.7, and Casey Frank won the 3200 meter run in 10:31.2.

Christian Tackett took first place in the 110 hurdles in 17.5, and Elijah Lesley was first in the 300 hurdles in 44.0.

The Hurricanes also won the 4x1 relay.

Liberty’s girls also defeated Emmaus 106.5-43.5.

The Hurricanes swept the sprints with Jaylyn Aminu winning the 100 meter dash in 12.1, Payton Shaffer winning the 200 in 26.6, and Greta Stuckey winning the 400 in 1:01.2.

Olivia Sahaydak took first place in the 800 meter run in 2:24.2.

The Hurricanes had a 1-2-3 finish in the 3200 meter run with Raisa Kochmaruk in 11:19.1, Belle Weikert in 12:01.9, and Grace Haas in 12:31.0.

Liberty placed first in all relays.

Another 1-2-3 finish was accomplished by the Hurricanes in the pole vault with Julia Bradley with a 8-00.0, Cara Kuykens with 7-06.0, and Molly Gray with 6-06.0.

Grace Mittl won both the long jump and the triple jump with an 18-10.0 and a 34-00.0, respectively.

Jackie Arthur won the shot put with 37-10.0, Sydney Wilson won the discus with 113-07.0, and in the javelin, Arthur was first with 119-01.0, Eleni Prodes was second with 109-04, and Allison Harris was third with 76-08.
