Guindine achieves Eagle Scout rank

Matthew Guindine, of Troop 93, Northampton, received the rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor April 8 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Northampton.

Guindine’s Eagle Scout project was completed at the former Mulligans Golf Course and Driving Range in Whitehall. The area is now called Whitehall Recreation Fields and is operated by the Whitehall-based Tri-Boro Soccer Club.

The Scout created artwork for signs located on Range Road. Reliable Signs Inc., of Nazareth, created the signs. They were installed on the property.

There are also 50 short poles that were worn and weather beaten. The poles were repaired and repainted in Tri-Boro Soccer Club colors - royal blue and white. Whitehall Township Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. approved the project.

According to Tri-Boro Soccer Club, the group’s participation numbers have increased since the creation of the signs.

Guindine has held leadership positions within the troop: scribe, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader and, currently, assistant Scoutmaster. He has earned a total of 29 merit badges and is a member of the Order of the Arrow.

Outside of Scouting, Guindine earned the karate rank of junior black belt with Leading Edge Martial Arts in August 2009.

He is a lifelong soccer player with Tri-Boro Soccer Club and Northampton Area High School, playing two years of JV and two years of varsity soccer.

Guindine currently attends Northampton Community College and plans to attend Kutztown University. He works at Sam’s Club and for the NVYSL Soccer League as a referee.

He is the son of Seth and Ann Guindine, of Northampton.
