Grace Singer
Grade: 12
Family members: Four
Favorite subject: My first favorite subject is biology because I find it very interesting and I’ve always loved to know how our DNA is made and how we can use it to change so many lives. My second favorite subject would be art (example: painting class) because it’s not stressful and I always end up surprising myself with what I can do! My third favorite would be gym class; I really enjoy having fun and breaking a sweat at the same time.
Activities: I play lacrosse at school, I’m president of Environmental Club, I’m in UNICEF Club, Photography Club and I’m a Girl Scout.
Next steps: I want to go to college and major in biology.
Career goals: become a genetic scientist (geneticist)
Heroes: Honestly my biggest heroes are my parents because they managed to stay strong through all the struggles life threw at them. They made me become who I am today. I learned so much from them!
Hobbies: I like to watch movies/TV shows, take pictures, play lacrosse, hang out with friends and dance.
Volunteer/community work: I volunteer at a food bank in New Jerusalem Church once a month. I also volunteer with “Breaking Bread” at Southside with First Presbyterian Church once a month and teach fourth and fifth graders at my church.
Likes: Making new friends, listening to music, going to the beach, learning about different cultures, going to the movies, eating and sleeping in.
Dislikes: Standardized tests, negativity, having to wake up early, and lies
Greatest accomplishment (so far): Coming to the U.S. (without my parents) to continue my high school education, representing Saucon Valley HS at the United Nations on “Peace Day,” learning lacrosse and joining the team, and lastly, being able to put a smile on people’s faces who are in need with “Breaking Bread.”
Advice for peers: Do what you love, no matter how good or bad you think you are at it, and don’t let anyone take that from you.
