HOOPS - Only BC girls survive Saturday’s action

Katie McDonald will have more on the team’s state run in the March 22 issue of the Bethlehem Press.

The NHS girls lost to Boyertown 56-55 on Saturday as Abby Kapp hit a clutch three-pointer with just 17 second left in the game.

The Kids would start out well in this game taking a 14-9 lead after one and extending it to 30-24 heading into the half. But a strong second half by Boyertown saw them chip away at the lead, cutting it to just 44-42 heading into the third quarter.

Senior Aja Blount saw her career end with an impressive 28-point performance in the loss while Victoria Keenan added 13.

The Emmaus boys also got off to a strong start in their game before falling in double-overtime, 78-74 against Carlisle.

The Hornets led 20-14 after one and 33-28 going into the half. But Carlisle would outscore Emmaus 23-18 in the final quarter to force overtime, including overcoming a 10-point deficit as well as a three-point deficit with under eight seconds to go in the game.

Once again, most of the Emmaus scoring went through the Kachelries twins. David had a game-high 34 points, including four three pointers, while Matt added 23, including two threes. Josh Artis had 10 points.
