Elaine R. Brosious-Domitrovits
Elaine R. Brosious- Domitrovits, 85, of Neffs, died Feb. 18, 2017, in Above & Beyond Senior Living, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Daniel Robert Brosious and the late Joseph Domitrovits.
Born in Springtown, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Edna (Mease) Smith.
She retired in 1985 from St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, having worked in the accounting department for 17 years.
She was an active member of Bethany United Church of Christ, volunteering her time within the church and as a former consistory member.
She served as a Girl Scout leader.
She was active in Bethlehem politics, advocating for the West Side Pool and Park.
She and her husband Dan were active parents at Calypso Elementary, where she was a former member of the Calypso Elementary PTA.
They took in “Fresh Air Kids” from New York City.
Elaine was an active supporter of Liberty High School Band for many years.
After her retirement, she earned an early childhood education degree from Northampton Community College and worked as a professional nanny for several families throughout Lehigh and Berks counties.
She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, where she was active in both the Knit-Wits Knitting Group and the quilters group.
When visiting, she became active with a Lutheran church in Arizona, volunteering and participating with its quilter’s guild.
She volunteered and assisted with voter registration for Lehigh County for more than 20 years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, serving both Lehigh and Berks counties.
She is survived by five daughters, Elise and her husband James Kramer of Cape Coral, Fla., and children, Samantha, James, Avery and Jordon; Elaine Brosious-Henson of San Diego, Calif., and daughters Heidi and Hanna; Ellen and her husband Greg Lansberry of Bethlehem and stepson Joshua; Elena and her husband Mark Steidinger of Germansville and children Benjamin, Jacob and Josephine; and Emily and her husband John Forsyth III of Allentown and children John IV, Danielle and Connor; sisters Virginia Schollenberg of Breinigsville and Ellen Griffo of Quakertown; a brother, James Smith and his wife Sue of Bethlehem; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hunter, Xavier and Aurora.
She was predeceased by a son, David Brosious; and brothers, Richard and Whitey Smith.
There will be a visitation time 7-8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton. An additional time will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 24, followed by the funeral service 11:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at Union United Church of Christ, 550 Route 873, Neffs, with the Rev. Kris P. Snyder-Samuelson officiating.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield Township.
