Kathryn M. Durkin, 84, died Jan. 28, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by her children. She was the wife of the late Thomas M. Durkin, who died Aug. 5, 2004. They celebrated 45 years of marriage. Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., she was the oldest of four children born to the late Harry C. and Mary V. Spatz.
She was a registered nurse, having practiced at New York’s Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital and Allentown Sacred Heart Hospital, both in Allentown, as well as a private duty nurse with Medical Personnel Pool.
She is survived by a brother, Kevin Spatz and his wife Mary Ann; daughters, Maura Durkin, Kathleen and her husband Chris Rentschler, Anne DeNiece, Clare and her husband Bill Votta, Leslie Andrews; son, Michael and his wife Jennifer; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary, Ian, James, John, Tara, Rory, Kelli, Keegan and Maggie; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Nancy G. Charlesworth and Mary Jane Fleck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5050 St. Joseph Road, Coopersburg, 18036 (Limeport). Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 2 in the church. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
