Jean M. Rau, 90, died Dec. 10, 2016. She was the wife of the late Ernest N. Rau of Allentown.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Elwood and Florence (Berger) Kern.
She was a den mother to Cub Scout Pack 93, the first Cub Scout troop in Northampton, from 1952 to 1955. She was both an intermediate and senior Girl Scout troop leader. She was a delegate to Camp Edith Macy training school. She received the Thanks Medal, the highest Girl Scout award for adult volunteers, for meritorious work.
She was the first neighborhood commissioner of Northampton, Bath, Kreidersville, Indianland and Cherryville from 1961-1964.
She was a member of Eastern Star.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Northampton, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Eddinger of Pleasanton, Calif. and Sally McFetridge of Whitehall; three grandchildren, Nate, Andrea and Corey; nephews and nieces, Roger, Rose, Bob, Rich and Lori Kern.
