Franklin L. Kauffman Sr.
Franklin L. Kauffman Sr., 90, of Catasauqua, died Dec. 9, 2016. He was the husband of the late Arlene (Uhl) Kauffman.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Theodore and Verna (Fatzinger) Kauffman.
He was a 1944 graduate of Allentown High School. He was a 1952 graduate of Industrial Management Institute of Philadelphia.
He was in the U.S. Navy for two years and was in the 20th Regiment Sea-bee Unit at Pearl Harbor.
He worked at Allentown Veterans Administration and then at Bethlehem Furniture where, in 1969, he was elected vice president in charge of production. After he retired, he continued to work for the company part time as a consultant.
He and his son Franklin Jr. owned and operated Le Hi Valley Candle Company, which they started 2003.
He was a member of Canadochly Lutheran Church, York, and a former member of St. Mark’s Church, Allentown.
He was a member of VFW of Egypt, History Channel Club and MLB Insiders Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Chereen Lichtenwalner of Columbia, S.C., and Suzanne Stettler of Easley, S.C.; two sons, Craig F. of Northampton and Franklin L. Jr. of Egypt; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Kauffman of Neffs; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore Jr. and Melvin; and two sisters, Althea Attrill and Charlotte Weaver.
