Robert L. Sendel, of Whitehall, died Dec. 10, 2016, while under the care of Celtic Hospice. He was the husband of the late Sylvia (Rodrigues) Sendel for 56 years.

He was a 1949 graduate of Weatherly High School.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a construction project manager for several regional contractors.

He served on the Coplay-Whitehall Sewer Authority.

He was a member of Whitehall Police Neighborhood Crime Watch and Fullerton American Legion Post 367.

He is survived by three children, Robert T. and his wife Karen of East Islip, N.Y.; Lorraine (Sendel) Sloss Barbella and her husband Frank Barbella of Lake Harmony; and retired Colonel Laureen G. Sendel-Grant and her husband Brian C. Grant of Hatfield; five grandchildren, Lauren and Zachary Grant, Billy and Bobby Sloss and Krysta Sendel; a brother, Bill and his wife Diane Sendel of Howell, N.J.; a sister, Yvonne DiSalvo of Lehighton; nieces; nephews; and extended family members.

There will be a calling hour 6-8 p.m. Dec. 15 at the funeral home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, 18052. Interment will be 11 a.m. Dec. 16 at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Section I, 1700 Airport Road, Allentown.
