NIXLE, a term that may seem foreign to many people, is beginning to catch on with more residents in Whitehall Township. This emergency alert and communications system provides vital information on a range of issues to residents.
NIXLE is not only available to those having computers with email, but also to people having telephone land lines and cellphones.
Regular notification and emergency alerts are components of the NIXLE system.
Township police in event of an emergency will alert neighborhoods of the emergency taking place. The system also gives residents updates on holiday refuse collection, such as the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
NIXLE is capable of pinpointing messages block by block; however, residents must do their part, indicating the nearest cross-street to the residence.
Enrollment is simple: For those with Internet, residents will fill out a NIXLE enrollment form. Those with cellphones with text capabilities can text their ZIP code to 888777. Others can contact the township, 610-437-5524, or fill out the form that was printed on the fall 2016 township newsletter, which is sent to residents.
