Joseph A. Washburn, 69, of Walnutport, died Dec. 4, 2016, at Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Jan (Leibensperger) Washburn for 48 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late William and Grace (McMullen) Washburn.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was in Vietnam.

He was a carpenter for area contractors. Prior to that, he was a lineman for Mack Trucks for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kelly Washburn; three brothers, John and his wife Renate, James and his wife Vicky and Peter and his wife Carol; two granddaughters, Katie and Jacqueline Lieberman; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Lieberman; and two brothers, William and Erwin.
