Jo-Ann Karmonick

Jo-Ann Karmonick, 68, of Walnutport, died Dec. 5, 2016. She was the wife of James Karmonick for 48 years.

Born in Beaver Meadows, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille (Libener) Rashko.

She was a 1966 graduate of Hazleton High School. She trained as an x-ray technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hazleton.

She was an x-ray technician for the late Dr. Alfred Stangl, a chiropractor in Whitehall.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville, for more than four decades. She volunteered in parish activities including lay ministry, teaching, administrative and fundraising.

She volunteered with community organizations including the Catholic Charities Ecumenical Kitchen, Allentown; and Boy Scout Troop 15 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Cherryville.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas J. of Walnutport; a daughter, Jennifer A. of Washington, D.C. and Northampton; a granddaughter, Angelique N. Karmonick and her fiance Steven Snow; two great-granddaughters, Avalina and Miya of Northampton; a sister, Dolores and her husband David LaChette of McAdoo; a brother, Paul and his wife Marlene Rashko of Hazle Township; a sister-in-law, Kathy Rashko of McAdoo; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Rashko Jr.
