Harry Duerst, Jr.

Harry Duerst, Jr., 83, of Emmaus, died at home Dec. 8, 2016. He was the husband of Ann M. (Bishop) Duerst. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage. Born in Camden, N.J., he was the son of the late Harry Sr. and Ann (Gordon) Duerst.

He was a member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Emmaus.

He was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and was a graduate of Spring Garden Institute of Technology. He was an engineer working for AT&T, Fuller Co., Mikro Pul, Ajax Electric and General Electric.

He served as a past-president of the Spring Creek Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Catherine Hamscher, of Allentown, Sandra Enright, of Springfield, Cynthia and her husband John Rafferty, of East Greenville and Stacey and her husband Joseph Craig, of Lehighton; grandchildren, Timothy, Christopher and his wife, Laura, Cassia, Natalie, Rory and Marlee; nieces, Carol Ann Marchek and Scheldene Jose.

Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Fresh Air Home, c/o financial secretary, P.O. Box 413, Haddonfield, N.J. 08033.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Dec. 17, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 150 Elm St., Emmaus. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik and Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
