Evelyn Kern, 89, of Northampton, died Dec. 11, 2016, at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth. She was the wife of the late Charles G. Kern Sr.
Born in New Rochelle, N. Y., she was a daughter of the late Adolf and Hjordis (Mattiassen) Petterson.
She was a cafeteria worker for Northampton Area School District and worked at both the high school and the former Wolf Elementary Building for 11 years before she retired in 1983. She previously was a machine operator at the former Tama Manufacturing, Northampton, for five years and in the meat department of the former Acme store for six years.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northampton.
She is survived by three sons, Charles G. Jr. and his wife Elaine and Norman J. and his wife Gloria, all of Northampton, and Ronald A. and his wife Cristine of Marlborough, Conn.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four sisters and six brothers.
There will be a calling hour 1-2 p.m., followed by services 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067.
