An Upper Macungie woman died Dec. 5 in a chain-reaction traffic crash along Route 222 South, just north of Krocks Road, Lower Macungie.
According to the Office of Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim, Fay A. Parry, 81, of 100 Ramapo Trail, Upper Macungie, was pronounced dead at the crash scene at 2:40 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Richard Pender.
An autopsy performed Dec. 6 determined Parry died from multiple blunt force trauma. The death was ruled an accident, according to the coroner’s report.
Parry was a rear-seat passenger in a vehicle driven by Michael George, 47, of Rio Rancho, N.M., according to State Police Troop M, Fogelsviile.
According to police, Gary Pellegrino, 65, of White Plains, N.Y., was driving a commercial vehicle southbound on Route 222, just north of Krocks Road, when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to stop for slowing and stopped traffic at the traffic light at Krocks Road around 2:12 p.m., resulting in a chain-reaction crash involving six vehicles.
Other drivers involved in the crash were Andrew M. Profit, 52, of Stokesdale, N.C.; Clarence C. Hausman, 59, of Breinigsville, Cayeligh L. Butz, 20, of Alburtis and Daniel Louie V. Ajero, 20, of Whitehall.
Vehicles involved in the crash were impounded pending further investigation by state police.
