East Allen bingo called a success
Twice a year, East Allen Township firefighters and auxiliary members hold a bingo event to benefit the volunteer staff.
A successful event was held Nov. 13 at the 5354 Nor-Bath Blvd. facility.
“We are sold out,” said Lauren McDevitt, president of the auxiliary, on the day of the bingo. “We have 180 people who came out to participate.
“This is the second event of the year,” she said. “We had one in the spring, and it sold out, too.”
Profits go to the fire department.
“We won’t know what we can contribute until we tally up all our expenses. We get a break on this one because we can ask businesses for a contribution to buy prizes,” she said.
The predominately female crowd plays 20 games along with a slew of raffles.
The prizes are good quality.
“We work to get deals on the best (items). Coach, Michael Kors and Vera Bradley are standards. At this event, we added a few other items. The spring bingo is all designer bags,” McDevitt said.
Businesses that contributed to the prize stash include Flawless Designs, Whitehall Door, Judith Ladonis Insurance, ECCO Communications, Lafarge, Dan’s Camera City, Berger Sanitation, Classic Pet Grooming, Jenkins Machine, Computer Management & Marketing, Monarch Precast Concrete, Hotel Bethlehem, Horwith Trucks, UGI, Maurer & Scott, Blue Mountain Ski Resort, Bob’s Flower Shop, Fast Lane recreation, Creative Actions Yoga, Glick Fire Equipment, Kalglo Electronics, Stefano’s Sicilian Grille, 512 Self Storage, Seiple Farms, Northampton Oil & Heating, Anvil Forge & Iron, Alan Mobile Home Park, Lehigh-Northampton Raccoon Club, Nazareth Pallet, Cathie Hill Tupperware, Penn’s Peak, Jackpot Amusements, Northampton Chiropractic Center, David Kress of Scentsy, Bethlehem Walmart and Isabella Pizza.
PC Beverage provided all the beverages for the event.
The next event is scheduled for April 23, 2017.
