Florence D. Snyder
Florence D. Snyder, 90, formerly of Allentown and Weston Senior Living, Emmaus, died Nov. 25, 2016, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. She was the wife of the late George David Snyder for 62 years.
She was a daughter of the late Clayton A. and Mary M. (Ziegenfus) Dorward.
She was a graduate of Allentown High School and West Chester State Teachers College, where she majored in math and in music education.
She was a certified Associate in Ministry (AIM) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church for 46 years.
She taught full time in the Allentown School District and later substituted for over 30 years.
She was a church organist, choir director, Vacation Bible School superintendent, church council member, Sunday school teacher and pianist for Young At Heart at the former St. James Lutheran Church, Allentown.
She was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church and was an organist, choir director and director of music for choir camp for the church, from which she retired as organist emeritus.
She was president of the Ziegenfuss/Ziegenfus family reunion for several years.
She is survived by a son, George Daniel Snyder; two daughters, Nancy A. and her husband George Myers of Allentown and Janice A. Monroe of Germansville; a sister, Jean Smoyer of Allentown; three grandchildren, Kari and her husband Josh Woodland, Christopher Monroe and Eric and his wife Amy Monroe; six great-grandchildren, Maya and Alexandra Woodland, Landen and Cameron Monroe, and Jordan and Logan Monroe; nieces; nephew; and a cousin, Paul Robert Ziegenfus.
She was predeceased by a brother, James Dorward.
There will be a calling hour 10-11 a.m., followed by a service 11 a.m., both Dec. 2 at the church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, 18103. Interment will follow at Western Salisbury Cemetery Association, Salisbury Township.
