V. Gene Zarayko, 77, died Oct. 25, 2016, at home. He was the husband of Carole (Danner) Zarayko for 55 years.

Born in Sharon, he was a son of the late Walter and Margaret (Onuschak) Zarayko.

He was in the U.S. Army reserves for seven years.

He was the past owner of several small businesses and had been a district manager for Drake Bakeries.

He was the Northampton borough manager for 30 years.

He had his own band, The Parker Bros., for many years.

He was a member at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Eugene and Peter; a daughter, Cheryl Marx; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nadine and her husband William Savitz and Karen and her husband Eugene Orlowski.

He was predeceased by two children; and a brother, Ronald.
