Northampton’s volleyball team couldn’t snap their seven-match losing streak Monday night after falling to Notre Dame Green Pond in a three game sweep 26-24, 25-20 25-19.
The loss drops the Kids to 5-8 overall and puts them in a tough position to make any run at the District 11 postseason.
“Our recent record unfortunately does not reflect the play,” said head coach Morgan Litak. “We put up a strong fight against Parkland and ended up losing the third game 22-25. This past weekend we took second at the Easton Tournament, losing the last game by two. I hope that the recent defeats fire up the players and use that motivation to pull out some victories the next few matches.”
The Kids recent stretch of losses have come against most of District 11’s top teams, with the losses coming to Parkland, Whitehall, Emmaus, Central Catholic and Nazareth.
Northampton was swept in each of those matches and closes out the season back in divisional play against all of those opponents.
“We have been facing tougher teams than what we saw to open the season,” said Litak. “That being said, if the team plays to their highest potential, we will be able to achieve success. I am hoping we finish our season strong.”
That started Tuesday night against Whitehall and continues tonight against Parkland.
