Boys, girls win two meets
Both the Northampton boys and girls cross country teams went 2-1 on the day in a meet held Tuesday afternoon.
The boys team beat Pocono Mountain East 20-35, beat Pocono Mountain West 15-48 and lost to Pleasant Valley 37-20.
The girls team beat Pocono Mountain East 15-48, beat Pocono Mountain West 15-50 and lost to Pleasant Valley 34-21.
The girl’s team now stands at 4-5 on the season thus far while the boys upped their mark to 5-4 on the season.
“The boys strong season continues as we leave this meet with a winning record for the first time since being 2-0 on Sept. 12, 2012,” head coach Dan Benner pointed out.
The boys had two runners in the top-10, starting with Isaac N’Jenga who was sixth with a time of 17:38. Vince Gallagher had a time of 17:56 which put him at ninth.
Two other runners cracked the top-20 with Isaiah Tyler finishing in 18:16 for 12th place and Nick Bodnar taking 17th with a time of 18:34.
Other NHS boy runners were: Evan Gillette 19:25 34th, Ayden Sylvester-Harms 19:41 38th, Bryce Fisher 21:03 62nd and Marcus Newhart - 22:20 84th.
For the girls, Beth Albright was the top finisher taking 11th with a time of 21:49.
Two other girls made the top-25 on the day: Magen Perelli 22:20 15th and Brooke Ingram 23:06 23rd.
Other NHS girl runners were: Olivia Rigo 23:29 26th, Aubrey Bealer 23:57 28th, Lauren Pague 24:06 29th, Tori Henderson 24:47 40th, Hope Scott 26:08 47th, Lena Kugelman 27:18 53rd and Carly Masonheimer 38:43 77th.
The Kids next race is Saturday at Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invite. The teams will be back against EPC action next Tuesday, Oct. 4 when they travel to East Stroudsburg North.
