Anna L. Helfrich
Anna L. Helfrich, 84, of Lower Macungie Township, died Sept. 20, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, She was the wife of Hiram G. Helfrich Jr., with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage. Born in Macungie, she was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Marian A. (Ohl) Yoachim.
She was a bookkeeper and partner in her husband’s businesses and was a school bus driver for East Penn School District for 28-1/2 years, retiring in 2006.
She was a member of Chestnut Hill U.C.C.
She was a member of the Ladies Birds of the former Emmaus Owls Nest and was a 4-H member and raised prize-winning show hogs and traveled with her father to the PA Farm Shows and fairs helping to show his prize-winning champion show hogs.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Glenn A. and his wife Linda, of Hereford and Gerry A. and his wife Irma, of Mt. Zion, Ill.; daughter, Gloria A. and her husband Michael A. Roeder, of Center Valley; sister, Jane Roeder, wife of the late George Roeder, grandchildren, Scott M. and his wife Maureen, of Mountville, Stephanie R., and Timothy A. of Mt. Zion, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Dara A., Eamon M. and Clare R., of Mountville; brothers, Ray, husband of the late Mary Lou, of Zionsville, Charles and his wife Arlene, of Allentown, David and his wife Doreen, of Breinigsville and Paul and his wife Kathy, of Rome; brother-in-law, Harry Kester; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Nathaniel; sisters, Faye Welsch, Elizabeth Hansen and Hilda Kester; brothers, Carl and John “Jack” Yoachim.
