Kids Roundup: Isaiah Tyler takes 13th

Both boys and girls cross country teams went 2-1 on the day with wins against Allen and Dieruff and losses against the Trojans Tuesday afternoon at Parkland.

The boys overall record now is 3-3, while the girls record is 2-4.

The scoring boys were Isaiah Tyler (13th - 18:27), Vince Gallagher (17th - 18:43), Nick Bodnar (45th - 20:15), Evan Gillette (55th - 20:51), and Bryce Fisher (85th - 22:18).

The scoring girls were Lyndsey Gallagher (8th - 22:15), Magen Perelli (17th - 23:07), Beth Albright (18th - 23:16), Hannah Flaven (27th - 24:46), and Olivia Rigo (31st - 25:04).

The team’s next meet is next Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Easton against Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain East, and Pocono Mountain West.

Northampton’s field hockey team lost a heartbreaker to Liberty over the weekend, falling 2-1 in overtime.

The Kids got on the board first thanks to a Morgan Mullen goal in the first half. But Liberty would tie the game in the second half before winning in OT. Olivia Sahaydak picked up a goal and an assist in the win while Anissa Abboud also scored. McKenna Burkhardt added an assist. Hallie Muffley assisted on Mullen’s goal and Ashley Kunsman made seven saves in net for the Kids.

Northampton defeated Nazareth 5-0

The girls took a 3-0 lead into the half and never looked back.

Once again it was Mullen scoring first for the Kids for a 1-0 lead. After that it was the Emily Henry show as she finished up the first half with two unassisted goals for the 3-0 lead.

She would start the second half with her third straight goal to make 4-0. Evelyn Bodnar netted the Kids final goal on an assist by Mullen.

Kunsman saved eight in the shutout victory.

The Northampton volleyball team picked up two recent victories.

The girls topped East Stroudsburg South 25-8, 25-11, 25-10.

Sydney Heffner had 10 aces and nine assists while Taylor Heffner also had 10 aces along with five digs. Olivia Lucas had 10 assist and Krystal Heffelfinger had 10 kills.

The team defeated Pocono Mountain West 25-18, 25-12 and 25-11.

Sydney Heffner had 15 aces and Jasmine Pavlinsky added five kills and five aces.

The golf team dropped a match with Emmaus last week at their home course of Southmoore, 385-413.

The Hornets were led by Sam Fritzinger’s one-under par effort of 70. He was also the match medalist for the day. All five scorers for Emmaus shot under 80 in the win: Belle Keopraseut - 78, Eric Cichocki - 79, A.J. Olszewski - 79, Luke Lanzone - 79

Northampton was led by Jack Test’s 78.

Andrew Hozza shot 81, Anthony Sawarynski shot 82, Devon Britton 85 and Andrew Kovalchik 87.
