Evolve Sober Living LLC has withdrawn its request for a rooming house in Fullerton for women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners were to vote this coming Monday on granting permission for the project.
The latest development gave rise on whether the proposed rooming house at 855 Third St. has been abandoned. There is a for sale sign in front of the property.
When asked by The Press if Evolve Sober Living LLC is now no longer a matter the board is considering, commissioners President Phillips Armstrong answered, “No comment.”
Armstrong indicated at Monday’s workshop meeting Evolve Sober Living LLC “is pulled from the agenda.” He said the partners for the rooming house, Talia Ehret and Lauren Keavery, were told at the August meeting to return to the township zoning board to get clarification on parking slots, two on the property and two off site.
The brick home has five bedrooms and was to be able to house up to 10 women, 18 years and older.
Abe Atiyeh, Lehigh Valley developer, chief operating officer of PA Venture Capital and owner of the building, was to lease the dwelling to Evolve Sober Living LLC.
There was opposition to the rooming house. Safety was a concern for a Quarry Street resident, who appeared at a recent meeting to discuss the impact it would have on the neighborhood and her family.
