Kids Roundup Boys soccer team wins two games
The Northampton boys soccer team got off to a fast start in 2016 with two wins.
The team knocked off Whitehall 4-0.
The Kids scored a goal in the first half by Ryan Keenan, which was unassisted, and then added three more in the second half to pull away.
Keenan made it 2-0 with another unassisted goal before Jacob Auger made it 3-0 on his tally.
Trevor Hanuschak’s goal on an assist from Keenan made it 4-0.
Morgan Heffelfinger made three saves for the shutout victory.
Northampton defeated Notre Dame Green Pond 4-0, however, no other information was available to the Press.
The field hockey team split its first two games of the season, falling to Whitehall 4-1 before knocking off Catty 9-1.
Rachel Schannauer posted two goals and an assist to help pace the Zephs to victory. Kylee Cunningham and Kassidy Cunningham also scored.
Emily Henry was the Kids goal scorer.
Against the Roughs, Henry had a big day with four goals and two assists in the win. Daniell Straub added two goals while Hallie Muffley, Morgan Mullen and Caila Feist each scored one goal.
Jackie Garner had Catty’s only goal.
Ashley Kunsman and Cassie Borzillo both saw time in net for the Kids.
The Northampton girls soccer team also split their first two games of the season.
The Kids beat Notre Dame 4-3 but fell to Whitehall 3-0.
Against the Crusaders, Rachel Apsley, Breaunna Colonna-Dotter and Abbi Czarnicki were the goal scorers. Czarnicki scored two in the contest, both coming on penalty kicks.
The golf team recently defeated Pocono Mountain West 416-498 at Southmoore’s par-71 course.
The Kids were led by Andrew Hozza’s 78.
Jack Test shot 82 and Andrew Kovalchik carded an 84. Both Anthony Sawarynski and Devon Britton had 86 in the win.
Pocono’s Tom Gaudette was the match medalist with a 74.
The girls volleyball team had a 3-1 victory over Dieruff on Tuesday.
The girls dropped the first game 25-23 before rallying to dominate the next three: 25-9, 25-10, 25-12.
Sydney Heffer led the way with seven aces and 11 assists. Olivia Lucas had 13 assists while Karissa Hartzell collected 11 digs.
Krystal Heffelfinger and Julia Kester each had 11 kills.
