At its Sept. 12 meeting, Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners will hear an appeal from DVS Enterprises Inc., which is seeking approval for conditional use of property it owns on West Coplay Road that would allow clean fill to be dumped at a former quarry.
Located in an OS-2, Open Space Limited Industrial Zoning District, the company will seek the commissioners’ approval to reclaim the property, which was previously used for quarrying activities.
Also on the Sept. 12 agenda is an issue that has sparked heated opposition by residents on Quarry Street in Fullerton. The commissioners are expected to vote on a proposed ordinance amendment dealing with adaptive reuse for affordable housing as a permitted use in all residential areas: R-1, R-2, R-3, R-3A, R-4, R-5 and R-5A zoning districts.
Although the zoning change would pertain to properties across the township, the issue is of particular importance to the developer of the proposed Fullerton Lofts, a housing project to be located at a long-idled apparel factory. Residents living near the proposed site, 215 Quarry St., have complained of potential parking issues in that area.
The commissioners earlier deferred a vote on the zoning change and agreed to examine the matter at a committee meeting.
