Kiss, the iconic hard rock band spanning four decades with explosive stage shows and signature face make-up, returns to the Lehigh Valley, 7 p.m. Sept. 1, Fairgrounds Grandstand, at the Great Allentown Fair. The band, founded in 1973, includes Paul Stanley, lead vocals, rhythm guitar; Gene Simmons, vocals, bass guitar; Tommy Thayer, lead guitar, joining in 2002, and Eric Singer, drums, joining in 1992. Ace Frehley, lead guitar, vocals, and Peter Criss, drums, vocals, departed by 1982. Kiss performed in the 1970s at Roxy Theatre, Northampton, and Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown; in 1975, the Agri-Plex, Allentown Fairgrounds; 1980, Fairgrounds Grandstand, and 1992, Stabler Arena, Bethlehem. Kiss has sold more than 100 million albums, with the hits “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “Detroit Rock” and “Beth.” The band’s 24th album, “Monster,” got to No. 6 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart in 2012. The Dead Daisies open the show.
