Whitehall Township had all three swimming pools - Cementon, Jefferson in Fullerton and Parkview in Hokendauqua - open over the past sweltering weekend; however, only Parkview remains open going into this weekend.

The last day to swim at Parkview is Aug. 26. There will be free swimming 9-11 a.m. until then.

Cementon and Jefferson closed Aug. 17, the shutdown date scheduled before the summer began and the pools had even opened.

“The lifeguards, many college students, are returning to classes and their schools,” Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. said.

Hozza said Parkview Pool is remaining open longer than the others not because of the extensive repairs and upgrades that delayed the opening of the pool, but rather because the township was able to have sufficient staff there.

Attendance figures at the three pools has increased since 2015.
