Northampton’s wrestling program appears to be on the verge of landing senior transfer KJ Fenstermacher.
An official District 11 Committee meeting will take place on August 17 to vote on the transfer, according to District 11 chairman and Whitehall athletic director Bob Hartman.
“Both schools signed off on the transfer to my knowledge,” said Hartman. “The committee still needs to approve the transfer.”
Fenstermacher won the District 11 and Northeast Regional AAA titles this season at 120 pounds wrestling for Liberty and finished the year 45-2 following a third-place finish at the PIAA championships.
He’s a two-time district and regional champion, as well as a two-time state medalist.
Fenstermacher and Northampton’s Dan Moran have engaged in memorable battles the past two years in the finals of districts and regionals, as Fenstermacher topped Moran 5-2 in February’s district championship and then won 3-0 at regionals.
Now the two could become teammates, solidifying a stacked lower weight class for the Kids.
With Moran, entering his senior season as a three-time state medalist, to go along with defending state champion Julian Chlebove entering his sophomore campaign, the Kids would have three of the top light weights in the area.
Throw in sophomore Devon Britton and junior Logan Ninos and Northampton would have a formidable crew to deal with.
Now, it’s just a matter of making things official on August 17.
K.J. Fenstermacher, right, could be joining the Konkrete Kids wrestling team this winter if the move is approved on Aug. 17.
