When Nazareth Pallet Company hosted its annual safety luncheon July 14, its employees had little idea of the surprise that awaited them. The business, which prides itself on being a neighbor to the Northampton community, has served area customers for more than 30 years.
The company was named Business of the Year by Northampton Area Chamber of Commerce and was presented with seven different awards, including a Certificate of Special Recognition by the United States Senate and a citation from the House of Representatives. Additional accolades came from U.S. Congressman Charles W. Dent, R-15th; state Rep. Julie Harhart, R-183rd; U.S. Senators Robert P. Casey Jr. and Pat Toomey; and state Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th.
Northampton Mayor Thomas Reenock and local policemen were present for the ceremony, held at the company’s Held Drive headquarters.
“Although upper management was aware we had won this accolade and that it would be officially announced at our annual safety meeting, this breadth of awards was indeed a surprise to us all,” said Ken Laga, senior account executive of Nazareth Pallet Company.
Nazareth Pallet Company’s recent recognition serves to reinforce its reputation as a quality area business. The company has donated mulch to local venues including ArtsQuest and America on Wheels, in addition to many community members in the past. It also has been featured in Lehigh Valley Magazine and on PBS’ “In America” program.
